Hello readers and welcome to this week’s blog post! I hope you are having a great start to the new year! January is a time to refresh and get set up to have a successful year. Where you make your resolutions and do what you can to reach those resolutions. Perhaps your new year’s resolution is to find ways to boost your mental health and to relieve stress. May I recommend finding a therapeutic outlet.
We should all have a therapeutic outlet to boost our mental health. Whether it is a creative outlet like painting or drawing. Or a therapeutic outlet that is physical, like exercising. For me my therapeutic outlet is journaling and listening to music. Speaking of music, this week’s blog title, “There must be something in the water” is inspired by a song, and one thing my son loves is the water, which is his therapeutic outlet.
When you were a child did you ever hear of those majestical creatures that live in the sea? What are they called again? Oh yeah mermaids! Well, my son is a merboy, he loves the water that much! If you let him, he will take multiple baths/showers a day. If I am doing dishes, I can almost guarantee that before too long he will be in the water. Anytime water is running you can bet he senses it and will come running. He is like that Disney character, from his favorite movie. The water just calls him!
What is so fascinating about my son loving the water is that kids either love it or they don’t. The same applies to kids on the spectrum, they either love it or they don’t. For the kids who love water. Something about the water just calms them; it is therapeutic for them. This therapeutic outlet is called Hydrotherapy, also known as water therapy. What is therapeutic about it is that once he is out of the water the calmness begins to set in, and he falls asleep.
Speaking of sleep, this mama is ready for a nap, the best therapeutic outlet of all. So long for now and thank you for reading this week’s blog post,” There must be something in the water.” Again, if you don’t have a therapeutic outlet that boosts your mental health and relieves stress, I recommend that you find one and that you do more of it!
